A/C Drain Cleaner Cost Worksheet: Kits, Refills & Setup

Buying guide + printable worksheet. The sticker price of an automatic A/C drain cleaner is only one part of ownership cost. Use this worksheet to compare equipment, included supplies, replacement refills, installation and ongoing care over the same period. Unclog uses scheduled suction at a compatible outdoor termination, so recurring chemical cartridges are not part of its maintenance mechanism.

Quick answer: compare the same job and the same period

For each option, add the initial kit, installation, required consumables, power or batteries and planned service. Subtract only discounts you can actually use. Keep repair costs and possible avoided losses separate. A cheaper total is not useful if the system is incompatible or cannot do the maintenance job you need.

Production Unclog installed at an outdoor brick wall

Unclog applies scheduled suction at a compatible outdoor drain termination to help remove developing buildup through physical maintenance. App controls or offline presets let you set a routine without recurring chemical cartridges. Enter the current device price and any installation or power-access costs for your property; do not treat “no chemical refills” as “no ownership costs.”

Before comparing totals, use the compatibility guide and installation instructions. Prevention begins after diagnosis, correction of active faults and verified normal flow. Unclog does not repair frozen coils, pumps, damaged pans, bad piping or active leaks, and is not an emergency substitute for clearing a blocked line.

1. Match the job before comparing prices

This worksheet compares ongoing maintenance choices for a working drain. If water is backing up, cooling has stopped on a safety switch or the route is uncertain, diagnosis and clearing come first. A kit price cannot substitute for that work.

Write down the drain route, equipment served and intended maintenance action. Confirm whether each product is suitable for that installation and whether professional setup is needed. Use the drain-cleaning methods comparison to distinguish extraction, approved treatment and scheduled prevention. The service-quote worksheet compares contractor scope; this worksheet compares product ownership costs.

2. Collect actual inputs for each option

Print this page or copy the table into a spreadsheet. Use dated manufacturer information and a property-specific installation quote. Leave an unknown cost marked “unknown,” rather than entering zero.

Ownership-cost input sheet — comparison period: _____ months
Input Option A Option B Check
Product and source date _____ _____ Exact kit/model and purchase option
Initial kit price $_____ $_____ List included supplies separately
Installation and required accessories $_____ $_____ Mounting, access and power requirements
Included supply coverage _____ months _____ months Use labeled coverage, not shipping frequency
Replacement supply $_____ / _____ months $_____ / _____ months Actual usable coverage and refill price
Power or batteries $_____ $_____ Period total; mark unknown if unmeasured
Planned care or service $_____ $_____ Avoid counting bundled work twice
Shipping, tax, eligible discounts $_____ $_____ Include replenishment delivery charges
Comparable ownership total $_____ $_____ Record exclusions below

Exclusions or unknowns: ____________________. Tasks still required: ____________________. Record inspection and supply-replacement effort separately from dollar costs; convenience matters even when you do not assign your time a price.

3. Count refills without charging twice for the starter supply

If a kit includes a usable starter supply, count only the additional refills needed within your chosen period. For a simplified estimate with fixed coverage, subtract included months from total months, divide the remaining months by refill coverage and round up to whole refills. Use zero when the included supply covers the entire period. This is a budgeting formula, not a prediction of consumption.

Subtract verified eligible discounts. Track uncertain repair or avoided-loss scenarios separately.

Illustrative arithmetic only: a 36-month period with 6 included months and 6 months per refill requires 5 additional refills. These are invented worksheet inputs, not a claim about any product’s price, supply duration or performance. If actual use varies, calculate a second scenario with your documented alternative assumptions.

4. Separate refill coverage from subscription delivery

A shipment every six months is a billing or delivery schedule; it does not automatically prove six months of usable supply in your system. Confirm the exact kit, included supply, refill coverage, subscription timing and cancellation terms independently.

When checked October 11, 2026, iFLO’s manufacturer product page offered different kit durations and one-time or automatic-refill purchase choices. That is why a comparison should specify the exact offer rather than combining a starter-kit price from one option with refill assumptions from another. This worksheet does not adopt manufacturer performance promises or customer complaints as proven outcomes. Unclog sells a competing drain-maintenance product.

Check whether an introductory discount requires recurring shipments, what the renewal price is, whether shipping changes and how to cancel. For a complaint-focused brand discussion, see our iFLO review audit; dated examples there are not substitutes for current purchase terms.

5. Make the decision without inventing a payback promise

Keep possible avoided service calls and water damage outside the basic ownership total. Neither a product price nor a past service bill proves how many future events a device will prevent. Do not label a product “paid for itself” by assuming a failure that has not occurred.

Choose an option that fits your drain, performs the intended maintenance action and has costs and ongoing tasks you understand. For a suitable outdoor termination, Unclog offers scheduled suction without recurring chemical cartridges. Check your installation, then see the current Unclog offer and complete your worksheet with actual inputs.

Common cost questions

Does no chemical refill cost mean no ongoing costs?

No. Include relevant power, inspection, upkeep and service costs. No recurring chemical cartridges describes Unclog’s mechanism, not a zero-cost ownership guarantee.

Should installation be included?

Yes. Compare the total required setup for your property, including accessories and professional work when needed.

Can this worksheet predict savings?

No. It compares documented ownership inputs. Future avoided clogs, service calls and losses are uncertain and should be separate scenarios.
